ADA Members - Development Workshop Series

Periodontics: 

Date:  Friday 21 March:  9am - 5pm; 

Speakers:  Dr. Michael Danesh-Meyer and Dr. Andrew Laiw

Venue:  NZDA House, 1/195 Main Highway, Ellerslie.

This workshop focuses on clarifying the diagnosis and classification of periodontal diseases, with practical applications for everyday practice, and explores various treatment modalities and prognosis for periodontally compromised teeth. Participants will also gain key insights into surgical flap management and minimally traumatic tooth extractions, with hands-on techniques for improved clinical outcomes.

Orthodontics: 

Date:  Saturday 10 May: 9am - 1pm: 

Speaker:  Dr. Janice Sommerville

Venue:  NZDA House, 1/195 Main Highway, Ellerslie.

This workshop covers treatment planning and troubleshooting for both conventional fixed appliances and clear aligners. Participants will develop practical strategies for managing complex cases and optimizing treatment results with these two common orthodontic approaches.

Prosthodontics: 

Date: Saturday 24 May:  9am - 5pm: 

Speaker:  Dr. Mark Ma and Dr. Adrian Tan

Venue:  University of Otago Auckland Dental Facility, 5D Browns Road, Manurewa

The workshop includes lectures and hands-on modules on essential techniques for tooth preparation for full and partial coverage ceramic restorations, intra-oral scanning, and design using the CEREC system, along with in-house milling of ceramic restorations. Participants will also refine their cementation techniques to ensure optimal fit and longevity of ceramic restorations.

Endodontics: 

Date:  Friday 6 June:  9am - 1pm:

Speakers:  Dr. Howard Chao and Dr. Sara Jardine: 

Venue:  NZDA House, 1/195 Main Highway, Ellerslie.

This workshop combines lectures and hands-on modules focused on the diagnosis and management of dental pain, vital pulp therapy, access cavity design, and instrumentation techniques. Participants will also learn troubleshooting strategies for challenging clinical scenarios to enhance their endodontic practice.

Oral Surgery: 

Date:  Saturday 19 July:  9am - 1pm;

Speaker:  Dr. Rajiv Rajpal;

Venue:  NZDA House, 1/195 Main Highway, Ellerslie.

This workshop offers lectures and hands-on modules designed to cover the essential aspects of minor oral surgery for general dentists. Participants will gain practical skills in performing common procedures, such as extractions, soft tissue management, and minor surgical interventions, to boost their clinical confidence and capability.
