Webinar - Modern Ceramic Materials - where have we got to and where are we going? ADA September 2023 Branch Meeting
Dental ceramics have developed rapidly over the last 20 years. The traditional PFM and gold crown are under threat from a variety of all ceramic materials. This presentation will look at where we have come from, overview the science of the new materials available to the clinician and provide a summary of the current protocols when placing contemporary ceramic restorations.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS: Drs Gilbert Watson and Mark Ma from Auckland Prosthodontics
Dr Gilbert Watson MDS (Otago) Specialist Prosthodontist
Gilbert graduated in 1984 with a BDS from University of Otago. He then spent 14 years in private practice before returning to Otago to complete a 3-year Prosthodontic Masters.
As part of his MDS he completed research based on the maintenance involved with implant overdentures having two papers published in peer reviewed international journal "The International Journal of Prosthodontics".
On returning to Auckland, he established a specialist private practice and became editor of the Auckland Dental Association newsletter, as well as facilitator for the New Graduate Programme - a position he held for a number of years. He regularly speaks nationally and enjoys the opportunity to share information with colleagues.
Dr Mark Ma DClinDent (Pros)
Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago and worked in private practice before completing the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) at the University of Melbourne. His thesis involved a literature review and the development of a novel instrument-based assessment tool for sleep bruxism. Although Mark is passionate about all aspects of prosthodontics, his special interests are in removable prosthodontics, fixed-removable prosthodontics (conventional and implant based) and the management of orofacial pain.
