This is a rare opportunity.  They don’t come up often.

Following the early retirement of one of our founding dentists after 26 years in the practice, we are looking for the right clinician to take over the care of a large and exceptionally loyal patient base at Lumino City Dental at Quay Park.

This is not a role where you will need to start from scratch. There is an established and educated patient database, plenty of dentistry to do, and a great team around you.

You will work alongside Dr Andrea Shepperson (currently clinical 2.5 days per week), Dr Fiona van Heerden (4.5 days), three part-time hygienists and a very experienced support team.

Who are we looking for?

Someone who will complement the skills and reputation of our practice, values learning and peer collegiality, and brings their own strengths, interests and expertise to the team.

There will be plenty of opportunity for mentoring, collaboration and shared learning with Dr Shepperson, however, her teaching and travel commitments mean the practice is looking for a dentist who already has the clinical confidence and experience to work independently, develop strong relationships with an established patient base, and make the role their own.

This will best suit an experienced clinician looking for their next professional home, rather than someone at the beginning of their career seeking close day-to-day mentoring.

We want someone who enjoys the breadth of general practice and believes, as we do, that great dentistry begins with great diagnosis, communication and patient relationships.

We frequently share treatment based on our respective clinical interests, and we enjoy working collaboratively with the specialists around us. Interdisciplinary communication is very much part of how we practise.

Communication really matters.

Many of the patients you will inherit have been with the practice, and with the same dentist, for many years. We are therefore looking for warmth, confidence and emotional intelligence: someone who listens well, builds trust and can have thoughtful conversations about changing dental needs and the transition to a new dentist, without patients feeling pressured or overwhelmed.

Our patients are predominantly educated business and professional clients, many of whom travel from across Auckland to our CBD practice. The database is extensive, with excellent opportunities across restorative dentistry, crown and bridgework, endodontics and comprehensive care, together with strong support from Lumino for patient communication, reactivation and new patient flow.

For the right dentist, there is a significant clinical opportunity within the existing patient base.

The practice

We have three hygienists, two TRIOS scanners, SprintRay 3D printing, a dedicated photo studio, and increasing AI integration including Heidi, Pearl, SmileCloud and Diagnocat. A strong interest in digital dentistry is very welcome.

We scan all new patients, use photography routinely and our new patient examinations are comprehensive.  We value continuous learning, a strong CPD record and clinicians who enjoy contributing to team education and upskilling.

We also have ready access to two CBCT units in adjacent specialist practices, including endodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery, within our multidisciplinary building.

The current role is approximately 31 hours per week across five days, and a secure CBD car park is available.
